The ASI report presents a compelling finding that cannot be ignored. According to the report, the western wall of the mosque was constructed on top of an existing structure that was originally a Hindu temple. The evidence speaks for itself and demands acknowledgement.
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) discovered that a Hindu temple existed in the Gyanvapi Mosque complex of Varanasi before the current structure was built. ASI found idols of gods and goddesses in the temple’s basement after studying the artefacts, inscriptions, statues, and walls in the mosque for four months. The report has been submitted to both Hindu and Muslim parties and provides detailed information on the findings.
The ASI report found many artefacts in the mosque premises, such as inscriptions, sculptures, coins, and pottery. These items were handed over to the district administration on 6 November. The survey was conducted safely without any damage to the structure.
ASI concluded that there was a temple where Gyanvapi Mosque now stands. The temple had a central hall and chambers in all four directions. The entrance was from the west, with carvings of birds and animals. A small frontal gateway was also carved but mostly erased.
